Conditional and nested event structures ask layered questions: if A happens, then what about B? Titles on a browse page can look like simple binaries while the rules encode a parent condition. Misreading that structure is a common way scanners invent a sure-thing story that the contract never promised. This guide is literacy — not pick-selling.

Standalone vs conditional questions
A standalone binary might ask whether candidate X wins a defined contest under stated rules. A conditional sibling might ask who wins if a runoff occurs, or whether a policy passes given a chamber composition. The Yes price on the child is not automatically the unconditional chance of the headline in casual English.
Literacy cues:
- Read the full resolution text, not only the card title.
- Note whether the market voids, pays No, or never activates if the parent fails.
- Compare related markets on the same event page before treating any one mid as the whole story — reading a Polymarket event page where applicable.
Nested trees and multi-outcome maps
Some UIs group a parent event with many child outcomes (nominee fields, bracket stages, multi-step diplomacy timelines). Others list separate markets that humans mentally nest even when the venue treats them as independent. Your job is to follow written dependence, not vibes.
Multi-outcome literacy still applies — binary vs multi-outcome markets.
Pricing intuition without invented math
Without publishing live cents: if a parent is considered unlikely, activity and depth on children can thin out, spreads widen, and mids become noisy. That is a liquidity and structure issue — what volume and liquidity mean, slippage and thin books — not proof of a hidden oracle.
ChanceWire never invents live prices here. Verify live on the venue or scan via markets.
Resolution, oracles, and disputes
Nested markets inherit every resolution hazard of their parents plus their own criteria. Oracle and dispute windows can fire on one node while another is still open — how oracles and UMA-style resolution work, dispute windows. Early close on a parent can cascade — early close and void rules.
SoftCta posture
ChanceWire does not execute trades. Soft CTAs stay learn-more / verify-on-operator after age and geo checks. We never publish location-spoofing guidance — how geo gates work. Orient on platforms and compare.
Reader checklist
- Identify parent vs child (or confirm they are independent).
- Write the payoff in one plain sentence including the condition.
- Check void behavior if the parent does not occur.
- Inspect depth on the specific child, not only the parent card.
- Re-check criteria after any rule update on the venue.

FAQ
- What is a conditional or nested market?
- A conditional market’s relevance or payoff depends on a parent event or prior outcome. Nested structures stack questions so some contracts only make sense if an upstream condition occurs.
- Why can nested prices confuse scanners?
- A child market’s Yes price is not always an unconditional probability of the headline. It may be conditioned on the parent resolving a certain way — or it may be a separate standalone question with a similar title. Read criteria carefully.
- Does ChanceWire resolve nested markets?
- No. ChanceWire is comparison media. Resolution follows each venue’s rules and oracles or official sources — confirm on the operator.
