Corporate earnings event contracts ask whether a named company prints EPS, revenue, or another metric above/below a strike — or whether a call happens by a date. They rhyme with equity options narratives but settle on venue-written criteria, not on “the stock ripped.” This SoftCta guide explains how to read them. It is not a trading desk, not pick-selling, and not a sure-thing checklist.

Metric, source, window
Open the rules and capture:
- Metric — GAAP EPS, adjusted EPS, revenue, subscribers, bookings, or another line item.
- Strike language — greater than / at least / within a bracket.
- Source — company 8-K / press release, IR presentation, or a named third-party feed.
- Print window — which fiscal quarter and by which calendar deadline.
- Revision / restatement — whether preliminary figures can be amended for settlement.
Two venues can both title “Company C beats EPS” while one uses adjusted EPS and the other uses GAAP. Those are different products. Comparing mids without aligning definitions is category error.
Beat/miss vs stock reaction
After-hours tape, implied move chatter, and influencer screenshots can reprice contracts. SoftCta literacy separates:
- Resolution facts — the printed number against the strike.
- Narrative markets — adjacent contracts on CEO tenure, product launches, or macro prints that keep trading after earnings are economically decided.
A stock can gap up on soft guidance while an EPS-above-strike binary still resolves No if the printed EPS missed. Venue text beats cable adjectives. See reading a market page.
Illustrative only (not live): if “FY Q EPS ≥ $1.20 per company release” Yes trades near 0.47, markets often read that as roughly a 47% implied chance of Yes — before fees and spreads — not ChanceWire’s forecast. See implied odds.
Timing and early close
Earnings slip, dual-list ADR quirks, and delayed filings matter. Check:
- What happens if the company reports after the stated deadline.
- Whether a quiet-period leak or whisper number is irrelevant to settlement.
- Fee and spread drag around thin books into the print — fees, spreads, and effective odds.
Near-certain mids after the release still need a settlement-status check on the venue — residual cents are not automatic residuals. See when a market is almost resolved.
SoftCta reading habits
- Prefer the IR release and venue criteria over whisper threads.
- Do not invent live cents — verify on the operator or ChanceWire markets when listed.
- SoftCta only: learn more on platforms and compare; ChanceWire does not execute trades and publishes no tipster earnings locks.
- Not a substitute for SEC filings or personal research diligence.

FAQ
- What usually settles an earnings beat market?
- A named metric (EPS, revenue, or another line) from a named source — company release, IR deck, or a specified data vendor — within a defined window.
- Is “beat” the same as stock-up after hours?
- No. Price action is a different object from the earnings print the contract names. Rules beat headlines.
- Do guidance comments settle EPS contracts?
- Only if the venue text says so. Most EPS/revenue binaries settle on the printed figure, not on soft guidance adjectives.
- Does ChanceWire recommend trading earnings week?
- No. This page is informational SoftCta literacy — not recommendations or pick-selling.
