Sportsbook odds are prices, not forecasts ChanceWire stands behind. This guide explains American vs decimal formats, how to read implied probability, and what vig (juice) means — so you can compare SoftCta options on the sportsbook hub without treating any number as a lock.

Age / eligibility: SoftCta AgeGate uses each partner’s minAge (often 21+ where required). Fail closed when age or geo is unknown. ChanceWire does not publish location-spoofing or geo-bypass guides.

American odds (moneyline style)

American odds use a plus or minus number:

  • Minus favorites (e.g. −150): risk $150 to win $100 profit (plus stake returned if you win).
  • Plus underdogs (e.g. +130): a $100 stake wins $130 profit if that side wins.

The sign tells you which side is priced as favorite vs underdog on that market. Always confirm the exact market (moneyline, spread, total) and the operator’s rules.

Decimal odds

Decimal odds show total return per 1 unit stake, including stake:

  • Decimal 2.50 → $1 stake returns $2.50 total if it wins ($1.50 profit).
  • Decimal 1.91 is roughly in the same family as American −110 (before fees and rounding).

Decimals are common outside the U.S. and on many apps’ alternate displays. Convert before you compare two books side by side.

Implied probability (rough math)

Odds imply a chance before your own view of vig and fees.

American (favorites, negative):

implied ≈ |American| / (|American| + 100)

Example: −110 → 110 / 210 ≈ 52.4%.

American (underdogs, positive):

implied ≈ 100 / (American + 100)

Example: +150 → 100 / 250 = 40%.

Decimal:

implied ≈ 1 / decimal

Example: 2.50 → 40%.

Implied probability is a price read, not a promise that the event will happen at that rate. Crowds and books can be wrong; thin markets can move on small action.

Vig (juice) and overround

On a typical two-way market, both sides’ implied probabilities often sum to more than 100%. That overround is the book’s built-in margin — vig / juice — before the game is decided.

Example pattern (illustrative only, not a live line): two sides near −110 / −110 each imply ~52.4%, summing to ~104.8%. The ~4.8% overround is margin in the price, not a ChanceWire forecast.

ChanceWire will not invent live sportsbook lines, bonus offers, or private affiliate performance figures in CMS copy. SoftCta compare stays education-first until licensed data and written partner tokens exist.

How to compare formats (SoftCta literacy)

  • Pick one market type (moneyline vs spread vs total) — do not mix formats blindly.
  • Convert both books to the same display (American *or* decimal).
  • Check implied probability and whether both sides’ prices leave a large overround.
  • Confirm age, geo, and account rules on the operator — SoftCta never replaces eligibility checks.
  • Use ChanceWire SoftCta paths only when you intend to compare partners; SoftCta attribution stays /r?vertical=sportsbook until hard tokens are pasted.

SoftCta: Learn more / compare on the sportsbook hub — SoftCta only. No hard signup destinations until Affiliate pastes sportsbook tokens after signed IO + geo allowlist import.

FAQ

What is the difference between American and decimal odds?

American odds use a plus or minus number (for example +150 or −110). Decimal odds show total return per unit stake (for example 2.50). Both describe the same price in different formats; convert carefully before you compare books.

What is vig (juice) on a sportsbook line?

Vig (also called juice) is the built-in house margin in a sportsbook price. A common two-way line such as −110 / −110 embeds more than 100% implied probability across both sides — that overround is how the book earns margin before any result.

Does ChanceWire publish live sportsbook odds?

Not until a licensed feed plus human MatchContent review are in place. Until then this silo is SoftCta compare only — no invented lines, demo boards, or sample 1X2 prices presented as live.

Is this betting advice or picks?

No. ChanceWire publishes education and SoftCta comparison only. We do not sell picks, locks, or sure-thing recommendations, and this page is not betting advice.
