Sweepstakes eligibility: age, state, and what ChanceWire checks
Eligible means you meet that brand’s age and location rules — not a legal determination or a bypass for geoblocks. SoftCta only until written partner tokens.
- Often 21+
- Brand-specific geo
- Fail closed
- SoftCta only
What eligibility means
“Eligible” on a sweepstakes / social-play product means you meet that brand’s age and location rules — and that any SoftCta ChanceWire shows for that brand is allowed to appear for your self-declared state. It is not a legal determination, a guarantee you can redeem prizes, or permission to bypass geoblocks.
Many major US sweeps brands require 21+. State allow/deny lists are brand-specific and change with legislation. ChanceWire does not invent a single 50-state matrix and never publishes VPN or “bypass the geoblock” guides.
Who decides what
| Layer | Who decides | What ChanceWire does |
|---|---|---|
| Operator ToS / Sweeps Rules | The brand | Final say on signup, play, and redemption |
| SoftCta AgeGate | Partner minAge in ops (often 21+ — VERIFY) | Blocks underage outbound SoftCta |
| SoftCta geo | Partner allow/deny matrix in ops | Suppress SoftCta when geo denied |
| Educational tool | Self-declared age + state + VERIFY labels | Eligibility checker — fail closed when unknown |
Age literacy
- Treat 21+ as a common floor for major US sweeps brands — not a sitewide ChanceWire rule for every vertical.
- Other products (prediction markets, sportsbook SoftCta hubs) may use different AgeGate floors. Do not copy-paste “18+ everywhere” onto sweeps pages.
- SoftCta uses per-partner minAge when configured. Until then, SoftCta still asks you to verify on the operator.
- Underage visitors should never see a hard signup path. SoftCta remains “Learn more / See eligibility on operator” until written tokens.
State / geo literacy
Eligibility is per brand. Prefer: “Check this brand’s current restricted / allowed states on their help center and Sweeps Rules.” SoftCta modules pull geo from ops, not from editorial guesswork.
Never publish: “Legal in all 50 states,” invented ban lists as fact, or VPN / geoblock bypass tips. If SoftCta is suppressed for your geo, treat that as a stop — not a puzzle to route around.
What ChanceWire checks vs the operator
ChanceWire SoftCta / tools (educational)
- Self-declared age against partner minAge (when configured).
- Self-declared US state against that partner’s ops matrix (VERIFY/ASSUMPTION labels).
- Whether SoftCta is allowed to show for that brand + geo.
Only the operator can confirm
- Account approval, KYC / identity checks where required.
- Live promo and redemption eligibility under Sweeps Rules.
- Mail-in or digital free-entry (AMOE) acceptance.
- Prize fulfillment after play.
For a guided SoftCta pass, open the eligibility checker. Prediction-market geo stays on a separate Platforms matrix — this silo never merges sweeps rows into /markets odds cells.
